JOB DESCRIPTION Position: After School Program Staff
Supervisor: Site Director, Assistant Director
Status: Hourly/Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. Some full days required.
Pay: negotiable.
After school staff work directly with assigned groups of students, to provide a safe, responsible, well- supervised afterschool programming. The staff acts as a positive adult role model having a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for the students they teach. The staff’s ability to establish authority through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience, will be required in giving our students the stability and nurturing
atmosphere they need to succeed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

ï‚·High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.

ï‚·Ability to speak and write Standard English. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

ï‚·Must pass NC DCDEE criminal background check and fingerprinting, and TB Test. ï‚· First Aid and CPR
-
Certification a plus.

ï‚·At least six months’ experience working with youth ages 5 - 12, after school, or a recreational
-
Environment.

ï‚·Strong Math and English skills (K-12).

ï‚·Excellent communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management:
​
ï‚·Ability to create and implement fun and engaging developmentally appropriate activities in the
areas of character development, project-based learning, STEAM, fitness and recreation,
academics/enrichment.
​
ï‚·Plans and implements a variety of daily recreational and enrichment activities that align with the
center’s monthly themes for groups; continually interfacing with members, volunteers, staff,
and parents.
​
ï‚·Executes customer service to students, families, and community as outlined by the organization.
ï‚· Willing to be an active participant of the organization with a positive attitude, looking for ways
to continue to enhance the program for all.
